Alejandro Vasquez

Graduated from the Faculty of Psychology of the University of the Republic (Udelar) with a degree in Psychology in 2006, he received a master's degree in Psychology from the University of the Basque Country (Spain) and later a doctorate in Psychology from the University of Porto. (Portugal).

He is a full professor and coordinator of the Cognition program at the Institute of Fundamentals and Methods in Psychology and one of the main researchers at the Center for Basic Research in Psychology (CIBPsi) and the Interdisciplinary Center in Cognition for Teaching and Learning (CICEA-EI). . He was a visiting professor or gave lectures at multiple universities abroad.

His main research topic focuses on temporal and cognitive processes, both in childhood and adulthood, and the evaluation of child development. At a methodological level, he is interested in replicability in psychology and multilevel and longitudinal models applied to behavioral sciences. In this context, he is coordinator of the research lines “Reproducibility in psychology: theoretical and epistemological challenges” and “Evaluation of Development and Temporality”. He is responsible for the projects that allowed the generation and implementation of evaluation instruments in educational contexts such as the Inventory of Characterization of Environments for Early Education (INCA-EI) and the Child Development Inventory (INDI).”

He is the author of several scientific articles in international journals, among which we can mention “School Readiness losses during the COVID-19 outbreak: a comparison of two cohorts of young children”, “The adapted Autobiographical interview: A systematic review and proposal for conduct and reporting”, “Evidence for the reliability and factor solution of the CFCS-14 in Spanish: A multi-method validation in Spain and Uruguay”, “Estimating the Reproducibility of Psychological Science”.

Likewise, he edited the books: “Introduction Manual to Cognitive Psychology”, “The Child Development Inventory and the systematic evaluation of development in educational contexts” and “Psychology of Time: an introduction to temporality in behavioral sciences”.
