Leonel Gomez

His specialization is in cognitive neuroscience, particularly as it relates to the neurocomputational processes that underlie sensory processes and systems. Its two main lines of research are: 1) the study of electrolocation, a sensory system that weakly discharged electric fish have, the physical process of generating the electrical image, its neuronal coding, its processing in central structures and sensory schemes. -engines in which it is registered; and 2) the study of the mechanisms involved in the perception of movement in human subjects through psychophysical techniques, electroencephalographic recordings and model construction.

He has directed two Master's theses that have already been completed and is currently directing another Master's thesis in Neurosciences. It is grade 4 of the PEDECIBA and Level I of the SNI.

At CICEA, he coordinates the “Fundamental” line of research.
